I think an important part of healthcare is to actually eliminate the need for constantly thinking about insurance and to realize there are many other ways to approach healthcare in a more holistic manner. What I mean by this is that it is important to figure out ways to avoid the need for medical attention. When you think about it, there are actually thousands of different ways to heal and/or keep the mind and body happy and whole. Unfortunately, these practices are considered unorthodox as “big pharma” has their grasp on mainstream society and brainwashed us into thinking a pill will solve all of our problems.
Some of the more natural ways to heal and are actually much less expensive and yet much more rewarding are as follows. Take yoga for instance, you could join a gym and attend free yoga classes as well as participate int he other classes they offer which are quite a few. To name a few; swimming, aerobics, spinning, weight lifting, dance, running, basketball, volleyball, racket ball, badminton, ping pong, rock climbing, bouldering, etc. You could always go swimming on your own at a friends house as socialization is very healthy for your mental health. Go hiking, biking, camping, canoeing, 4-wheelin’, dirt biking, boating, etc.
Another really cheap (in fact free) method to help the entire mind, body and soul is to meditate. This has been researched and has shown to work wonders for mankind. If you do not believe me, all you have to do is a really quick test to see for yourself. It is a bit of a stretch from actual meditation but is still a major part of meditation in that you will be doing a short breathing exercise. In fact to see immediate results, all you have to do is take a measly 120 seconds out of your busy day. Here is the exercise, I want to to find a quiet and comfortable place where you can sit down and relax.
Once you find a place, I want you to check your pulse and figure out how many beats per minute your heart is pumping at. Once you have your count, sit down with your bottom and small of your back firmly pressed against the back of the chair. Close your eyes and with both of your feet firmly pressed on the ground as well as your arms on the arm rests or the top of your knees or legs, take some slow deep cleansing breaths. Meaning, in through the nose for 5 seconds, and then hold your breath for another 5 seconds, and then release your breath for a total of 5 seconds. As you are breathing for the entire 2 minutes (120 seconds) feel your arms becoming very heavy and your bottom and feet sinking in to the ground. Also feel the weightlessness you have everywhere else throughout your body. Do this the entire time and then check your heartbeat pulse immediately after the exercise.
Chances are your heartbeat lowered and you feel much more calmer and relaxed with little to no stress. If your heartbeat is the same or raises; this could be to not surrendering to the process and just letting go. I also believe you may become anxious about the concept of letting go which could elevate your heart rate as well. Either way with a little practice, you could really start to unwind and have a much happier, healthier and fulfilling life making your trips to the doctor much less frequent and even non existent if you are able to heal the mind body and soul in a more natural manner. If you have anything else to add to this post, please feel free to do so as I would welcome any new ideas or concepts to discuss further. I also welcome a good debate so do not worry about hurting my feelings if you disagree with what I have shared.
